Biography
Joanne Chan is a neurophysiotherapist with over 15 years of experience in neurological rehabilitation, with a special interest in Parkinson’s disease, movement disorders, stroke, and vestibular rehabilitation.
She founded Movement Rehabilitation Centre with a vision of providing specialised, patient-centred care for individuals living with Parkinson’s disease and other neurological conditions. Joanne believes that every person living with Parkinson’s deserves access to evidence-based rehabilitation and the support needed to continue living a meaningful and active life.
Prior to establishing the centre, Joanne worked at Tan Tock Seng Hospital in Singapore, specialising in neurological rehabilitation across inpatient and outpatient settings. She later served as a lecturer, Head of Programme, and Head of Department at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), where she taught neurological rehabilitation and mentored future physiotherapists.
Joanne holds a Master’s degree in Physiotherapy (Neurorehabilitation) from the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom, and is a certified LSVT BIG clinician. She currently serves on the Allied Health Steering Committee of the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society and remains actively involved in professional education, community outreach, and advancing Parkinson’s care in Malaysia.
Beyond the clinic, she is passionate about empowering patients and caregivers through education, exercise, and community support, helping individuals maintain mobility, independence, and quality of life throughout their journey.
